Colonie Library and Colonie Historical Society presents:

A Civil War Tour of Albany Rural Cemetery:

One of the first rural cemeteries established in the United States, historic Albany Rural Cemetery was founded in 1841, at a time when the United States contained just 26 states.  Today, Albany Rural is comprised of 467 acres and contains more than 135,000 interments. In this Power Point presentation, speaker Mark Bodnar will give a brief history of Albany Rural, then take you on a pictorial presentation, a virtual tour of many of the interesting biographies of the men and women who were influential in the progression of the War of the Rebellion, including politicians, industrialists, clergy and the cemetery’s most famous permanent resident, President Chester A. Arthur.
