Colonie Library and Colonie Historical Society presents:

From Albany to Appomattox: The Civil War Experiences of Major Charles E. Pease

An Albany native, Charles E. Pease graduated from the Albany Academy and Union College in Schenectady. He served his country during all four years of the Civil War, was engaged in combat, served on the staffs of three generals, rode with the highest ranking officers in the Union Army, viewed the eastern theater of the Civil War from the viewpoint of top command, and was present at Appomattox for the surrender of Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant. Who were these generals that Pease served under? What was his role in the surrender? Without giving away any surprises, suffice it to say that this is a story that has several “WOW!” factors.
