Program Description

Event Details

The presentation will provide an insight in hiking, backpacking, and paddling (flatwater and white water) activities within about a one-hour drive from the Albany area and will promote the responsible use of these natural resources by addressing safety guidelines and leave-no-trace principles. Demonstrations of the equipment and tools for hiking, back country camping and paddling will be included.

This program will be presented by representatives of the Albany and Schenectady Chapters of the Adirondack Mountain Club. The club has been involved in the protection of New York’s natural areas for over 100 years. The presenters are all active as leaders of the chapters and routinely lead hikes or paddling trips for the membership. The main contact person is Patrick Van Roey, Chair of the Albany Chapter.
