Program Description

Event Details

Get the rousing stories of Knox's stupendous haul of fifty-nine cannons — including the two-and-a-half-ton "Old SOW' — from Forts Crown Point and Ticonderoga through Colonie and on to Boston. Along the way, audiences will meet the determined young bookseller who lost his father (and two fingers), yet went on to win the confidence of General George Washington. Through vivid storytelling, historical detail, and audience participation, listeners will "enlist" to help haul the cannons across ice and snow. This 45—50 minute program, performed in period attire, will engage families, students, and history enthusiasts alike. Jonathan Kruk, the Hudson Valley's Master Storyteller, renowned for solo shows of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "A Christmas Carol, " has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, The Today Show, and Travel Channel. Author of two books for the History Press, Jonathan earned citizenship medals from the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution. www.jonathankruk.com
