Event Details

This presentation examines how New York can achieve 100% firm, clean solar‑led power while addressing land‑use concerns. It shows that the required PV footprint is modest and achievable by prioritizing rooftops, rights‑of‑way, parking, and agrivoltaics, minimizing impacts on farmland and communities while delivering affordable, 24/365 renewable electricity.

Richard Perez is Professor Emeritus and a leading authority in solar and firm renewable power. He has authored 300+ publications with over 19,000 citations, holds patents in energy storage and load management, and developed solar resource models widely used in the design of solar plants worldwide. He serves as Consulting Scientist to industry and leads an international, multi‑country task force on firm renewable power under the International Energy Agency (IEA), earning major international awards for his contributions.
