John DiNuzzo, President of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, alongside member-historian Mark Silo, will delve into the rich historical significance of the site encompassing both the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. Central to their presentation is the pivotal Battle of Lake George in 1755, marking a crucial early triumph for the British over the French. They will also highlight ongoing efforts to honor history, including the reverential reinterment project of 44 Continental soldiers who fell in 1776, emphasizing the park's role as a solemn memorial to those who sacrificed for America's independence.
John DiNuzzo is President of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, a non-profit group which preserves the park's history and promotes awareness of its key roles during the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. DiNuzzo is also a Trustee of the Warren County Historical Society, a member of the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. He is currently a member of the Town of Lake George Planning Board.
Mark Silo was the Assistant Commissioner at the N.Y. S. Department of Transportation. He served as a member of the Town of Colonie Planning Board and Conservation Council, and with the Friends of the NYS Military Museum, Capital District Civil War Round Table and Southern Adirondack Audubon Society. Currently he is a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Interpretive Center. He is the author of “The 115th New York in the Civil War” 1977.
