The library is offering a three-part series of 50 year old movies to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Film expert and Menands Public Library Director Lenny Zapala is offering the second of a three-installment series with the movie Rocky. The film is a drama about an overlooked, small-time Philadelphia boxer named Rocky Balboa who gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. It is a story of heart, underdog determination, and self-respect, focusing on Rocky's journey to "go the distance" rather than just winning. The movie is directed by John Avildsen.
